What Does Suzani Mean?

Suzani comes from the Persian word for needle. The name is best known from the embroidered cloths of Central Asia, made by hand and prized for their bold, expressive color. Suzani kilims carry that spirit into the world of flatweaves, where stitched and woven detail combine to give the surface a vivid, hand-finished look.

What You Will See in a Suzani Kilim

The classic Suzani kilim in our collection is built on a field of large diamond medallions, set in rows and framed by borders of zigzags and small repeating shapes.
