Laghari Kilims

Narrow bands, tiny motifs, a lot of patience.

A handmade Laghari kilim is built from layers. Instead of one big medallion, the rug is made of many narrow horizontal bands stacked across a deep red-brown ground, and each band carries its own row of small geometric motifs. Up close it's all detail; from across the room it settles into a rich, glowing pattern.

What Makes a Laghari Kilim Distinctive

The look comes from scale. The motifs are small (little diamonds, zigzags, and stepped shapes in orange, red, blue, pink, and cream) and they repeat in tight, orderly rows against that dark base. The dark ground does a lot of the work, making each tiny bright shape stand out instead of blending into the next.

Flat-Woven, Not Knotted

Like every kilim, a Laghari is flat-woven: the pattern is built into the weave itself, with no pile and no knots. That makes it lighter and thinner than a knotted rug, and easier to move, layer, or hang. If you like the banded look but want a plush, knotted pile, see our Khurjeen Rugs, and see our full Kilims collection to compare the other flat-woven styles we carry.

Colors and Materials

Deep maroon and brown set the tone, with the bright accents carrying through each band. That dark base is also practical, since it hides everyday wear and light marks better than a pale ground would. Every Laghari kilim we carry is hand-woven from wool, a tight flat weave that holds its pattern cleanly.

Where Laghari Kilims Work Well

The layered stripes give a room warmth and texture without overpowering it, which suits a living room, a bedroom, or a home office. Our Size Guide helps you match a size to your room.

Caring for a Laghari Kilim

The flat weave keeps upkeep simple: regular light vacuuming and prompt attention to spills. Our full Rug Care guide covers the details.
