Most area rugs run noticeably longer than they are wide. This one doesn't - at 5' by 6', it sits much closer to square, which makes it a genuinely different shape to work with than a typical rectangular rug or carpet.

Plenty of apartments and condos have rooms that are more evenly proportioned than a classic long living room. A nearly-square rug matches that shape far more naturally than a longer rectangle would, without leaving awkward strips of bare floor on either side.
