An entryway rug is the first thing a guest steps on - and one of the hardest-working rugs in the house. Like our other collections, this spans every design tradition we carry: a finely knotted Persian piece, a bold tribal design, a flat-woven kilim, a clean modern rug.
Built for Heavy Traffic
Entryways see more foot traffic than almost any other spot in a home, so durability matters here more than almost anywhere else. Hand-knotted wool rugs are built to hold up to that kind of daily use.
If hiding daily wear is a priority, black and brown or tan tones handle it especially well.
Getting the Size and Shape Right
- Measure first. An entryway rug that's too small or too large can throw off the whole space - measure your area before choosing a size.
- Match the shape to your doorway. A long, narrow entryway usually calls for a rectangular rug, while a round rug can look especially elegant in front of an arched doorway.
If your entryway has two doors, a matching pair of short runners placed in front of each creates a deliberate, symmetrical look.
